According to Reuters, Lexington home mortgage applications increased by 2 percent in mid-September. Applications are at their highest level since this past April. This rise was fueled by two main factors.

A drop in interest rates by the Federal Reserve is the first reason. With a lower interest rate, more homeowners are urged to refinance. The second component is the excess of homes on the market. Prices are driven down with a surplus of homes.

You can make your second Lexington home more appealing to vacationers by installing one thing, a hot tub. On average rental homes with hot tubs take in $14,000 more than rentals without. The up-front cost is big, but a hot tub will pay for itself many times over.

In addition, renters will remember a dirty house a good deal more than a clean house. Be sure the linens are fresh and the floors are spick and span to avoid any bad memories. The only things a renter should bring are clothes and food.

Looking to put in an extra bedroom in your Lexington home? Outdoor sleeping quarters might be a good idea. From bars to daybeds to side tables, folks are investing more money on outdoor "rooms." To guarantee water and mildew stay out of your bed, these rooms are set up with aluminum platforms, mosquito nets, nylon, and woven PVC.

These beds arrive ready-made and vary from expensive models by Armani/Casa's Oceano, to the more inexpensive versions, available at Home Depot or Lowe's. A canopied daybed on the deck will generally be a terrific place to kick back and take a nap, even though so many areas don't permit sleeping outside.
