Older Lexington homes may be affected by new remodel guidelines developed by the Environmental Protection Agency. For contractors taking part in remodels on homes built before 1978, the EPA requires lead training, certification, and safe work practice requirements. They hope to to remove the public health uneasiness of lead poisoning by the year 2010.
Lead has been used in paint for many years and is a very abrasive metal. Children under the age of six are most at risk since their nervous systems have not completely developed. A variety of health problems can happen to anybody. Contact Lexington real estate with any questions with regards to lead in your home.
